LUV It: The Whole New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

The concept of a family doctor can be lend to the world of automotives. The same way how a family doctor treats the family members, so is Maruti Suzuki to Indians,the only brand that is fully equipped to be a family brand with a selective list of finely engineered vehicles. From the brains and craftmanship of Maruti engineers a handsome MPV was born and was introduced in the Delhi Auto Expo - Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Utility vehicles take hold of 14% of the Indian automotive market. In this category, MUV holds 66% of the market. The main aim of Ertiga will be to conquer a ransom part in this segment.

DESIGN

In the means of styling Ertiga can be called as the big brother of Maruti Suzuki's much acclaimed hatch back model the Ritz. Ertiga will be India's first compact MUV. The front face, eye pillar, small bonnet all have resmblence to the Ritz. Head lamp arranged in continuity with the wheel arch, big air intakers, fog lamps, indicators fixed to the rear view mirror all these feauters resemble towards the new youth concept of the company. The rear portion is also well designed so that it does not loose its identity with the front part, all and all a change from other Maruti's can be clearly felt.

INTERIOR

The interior has been designed to meet the international Suzuki standards with beige and black coloured dashboard, adjustable three spoke steering wheel, steering mounted control buttons, twin A/C, six speaker audio system, key less entry, multi information display and much more features are available in the new Ertiga.

Ertiga has been built under the platform of Swift with length, width and height of 4265mm,1695mm,1685mm, respectively and 2745mm wheelbase. If we compare Ertiga with the present king of MPV segment the Toyota Innova Ertiga may lag in some feautre but the wheel base is around the same for both. Thus it can provide same comfort to the passengers in all the seats around any driving conditions. The seats are made of rich fabrics and the seats in the front are bucket seats, the middle row is arranged with a bench shape to maximise comfort level. A/C vents fixed to the top, arm rest, the head and leg rooms comes under the plus points of Ertiga. Monocock platform have been followed in Ertiga too and as a result entry and exit is much more easy.the last row seats are meant for children but in a folded manner it can afford luggage for a five day trip.

ENGINE

Ertiga is available in 1373cc 4-cylinder 93.8 bhp petrol engine and 1248cc 88.5bhp turbo charged diesel engine. The K-Series petrol engine can give a fair mileage of 16kmpl and diesel engine gives best in class 20kmpl.

PRICE

All new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes with a price tag of Rs 7-9 lakh (Ex-showroom Kochi).
